Prof. Christophe CopĂ©ret, ETH Zurich, Switzerland, has been awarded the Paul H. Emmett Award in Fundamental Catalysis by the North AmerÂiÂcan CatalÂyÂsis SociÂety (NACS). The prize recognizes subÂstanÂtial indiÂvidÂual conÂtriÂbuÂtions in the field of catalÂyÂsis with emphaÂsis on disÂcovÂery and underÂstandÂing of catÂalytic pheÂnomÂena, proÂposal of catÂalytic reacÂtion mechÂaÂnisms, and idenÂtiÂfiÂcaÂtion of and descripÂtion of catÂalytic sites and species.
CopĂ©ret is honored for his contributions to the prepaÂraÂtion of well-defined hetÂeroÂgeÂneous catÂaÂlysts through a molÂeÂcÂuÂlar approach based on the conÂtrolled funcÂtionÂalÂizaÂtion of surÂfaces and for the atomic descripÂtion of the surÂface species and active sites, in parÂticÂuÂlar via solid-state NMR specÂtroscopy. The award was presented at the closÂing banÂquet cerÂeÂmonies at the 24th North American Meeting (NAM) of the Catalysis Society on June 18, 2015, in PittsÂburgh, PA, USA.
